Invrsion has joined the Khronos Group Inc. and will work at the creation of a 3D commerce standard.
The Khronos Group Inc is “a not for profit, member-funded consortium focused on the creation of royalty-free open standards for 3D graphics, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Parallel Computing, Neural Networks, and Vision Processing on a wide variety of platforms and devices”. The Khronos Membership lets companies collaborate with over 100 industry-leading member companies across the globe in the development of these open standards, many of which are widely used in the industry today, such as Vulkan, OpenGL, OpenGL ES, WebGL, glTF, OpenCL, OpenVX and more.
Virtual Reality for retail is about simulating retail environments of any size full of photo-realistic 3D products, to be navigated and experienced as if they were real.
At a B2B level, it enables to simulate, contextualize, share and validate in-store activities, ranging from in-store promotions and communication to category management projects, from shopper research to employees and sales force training, from new product pack tests to store design and layout remodeling.
By detecting the key role of product digitalization in multiple business activities – not only for VR – Invrsion has recently invested in the development of this business area, which can rely on a dedicated industrial pipeline and a highly skilled team. Brands and retailers need the “digital twin” of their products for many business purposes, ranging from BTL, online communication, social media and e-commerce to category management, space allocation and AR/VR applications.
In the perspective of v-commerce, that is virtual reality shopping, retailers will need thousands of 3D products to fill their virtual stores. That is why the startup has enhanced its digitalization pipeline with a patented system based on AI and Computer Vision, making it faster, scalable and cost-effective and allowing the automatic acquisition of products in 2D/3D formats and data.
Invrsion is part of The Khronos 3D Commerce Working Group, which will work at the creation of standards and guidelines for the production and distribution of real-time 3D representations of products, to be experienced realistically across all platforms and devices. The proven expertise and solid pipeline, systematized through the compliance to these standards, will make Invrsion acquire a leading position in the industry, laying the groundwork for the future of e-commerce.
As Fabrizio Dini, COO at Invrsion, has stated: “V-commerce will be the most innovative digital entertainment system of the new century. We have been working since 2016 on an enterprise and efficient process of product digitalization based on our patented technology and we are keen to collaborate with The Khronos Working Group to build a 3D commerce standard with a proactive attitude, to lead a disruptive change in terms of product digitalization and to push e-commerce to a new level.”
